STC Mini-Conference Workshop: Sharing Content Across Silos

Your Organization’s Content: A Workshop About Sharing Content Across Silos, Content Strategy, and Content Engineering

02/16, 9:30 AM CT
Brenham, Texas

STC Houston will be holding a mini-conference on Saturday, February 16 that covers sharing content across an organization, teaching tech writing to engineers, and common sense DITA, among other topics. The event takes place from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM in Brenham, Texas.

Alan Porter will lead the “Intro to Content Engineering” segment of “Your Organization’s Content: A Workshop About Sharing Content Across Silos, Content Strategy, and Content Engineering.” In this segment, Porter will introduce the seven distinct disciplines of content engineering. These disciplines embody the skills and strategies content engineers use to bridge the divide between content strategists, producers, developers, and managers who publish and distribute digital content. Audiences will learn how content engineers help define and facilitate content structure during the entire content strategy, production, and distribution cycle.

Also in this workshop, Alyssa Fox will discuss “The Content Strategy Imperative”, and Paul Mueller will cover “Content Across the Enterprise.” Together, audiences will get a high-level overview of how to plan and execute a well-designed content ecosystem that delivers the most relevant content to an organization's readers when and where they need it most.

Other sessions at this mini-conference include:

  • “Technical Editing: The Foundation of a Quality Product” by Linda Oestreich
  • “Teaching Technical Writing to Engineers: What Works?” by Noel Atzmiller
  • “Teaching Technical Writing to College Students” by Yvonne Wade Sanchez
  • “Developing Workflow-Based Help” by Cindy Pao
  • “Common Sense DITA” by Erika Frensley
