Metadata

A text string that describes, identifies, or provides supporting information about an asset. In the context of a Content Model, metadata addresses the things we need to know about a content asset, e.g., unique identifier, publication date, and subject classifications. The vocabularies included in a Semantic Model control the terms used to populate some metadata fields, specifically those that use terms as labels. Metadata fields can include other types of data not encompassed by the semantic model, e.g., identifiers and dates, or items that don't require a controlled list of terms.
